Village Learning Community

The Learning Community (TLC) is an eight-week virtual training experience designed specifically for Black and Brown fundraisers dedicated to serving minority communities, specifically within social justice initiatives. This innovative program not only provides tools and strategies to access critical resources and manage high-stakes fundraising conversations, but also creates a supportive community for participants navigating the unique challenges of the field.

The Learning Community offers a balance of expert-led training and peer connection. Participants will gain invaluable insights while building lasting relationships with others who share similar experiences and goals. By combining structured content with opportunities for dialogue, this program creates a streamlined, holistic approach to addressing both the practical and emotional demands of fundraising for social justice causes.

TLC was born out of the firsthand frustration and trauma that Maleka, and many other Black and Brown fundraisers, experience as they work to access opportunities and advance the organizations they serve.  Recognizing the need for change, Maleka created the course based on research and evidence, past experience, and feedback gained as a trainer and presenter with a variety of organizations, including the Chronicle of Philanthropy, the Communities in Schools national townhall, and the Robin Hood Foundation’s G.R.I.T. training series. Feedback from the sessions have been highly-rated for their practical application and values-centered approach to fundraising.
